Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars: an artist who was able to effortlessly bridge the gap between pop and country music, conquering the globe. Swift shed country like it was an additional layer of herself, proving that she is perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. A person who has the ability to tap into the zeitgeist to make it personal, and perform in the opposite. These skills were evident on her early hits including the Neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out who she was and in the process, finding a mass audience. The album was able to have significant appeal not just in the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles on the strength of the Top Ten hits Love Story and Belong with Me Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well within the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift soared to the top of the charts when she released Speak Now. In the following three years, her fame was growing with the release of three albums -the albums - Red (2012), Reputation (2014), and 1989 (2014-2015) during which time Swift entered the realm of pop with her skills already well-established. In the end, when she refocused her music by releasing stripped-down albums like 2020, Folklore, and Evermore but she was still at the top. The position was defended with the re-recordings she had made from her earlier catalogue as well as Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
